As International Women's Day draws near, women across China are celebrating their holiday by indulging in their favorite activities.

Since this year's holiday falls on the weekend, some women are choosing to enjoy themselves at tourist resorts, particularly hot springs and those near the coast.

Others have planned to devote the weekend to self-improvement, attending lectures to learn how to make themselves more charming.

And since it is the Olympic year, there are also those who choose to play sports to celebrate the holiday. In Shanghai, over 600 women are taking part in gateball competitions. In Fujian Province, local women are celebrating with their Taiwan counterparts by speedwalking.
