1. 希望的表达
I hope he is better.
我希望他比以前好些了。
这类句子还可以表示“希望事情如愿”，例如：In this I hope for your help.这件事我希望能得到你的帮助。Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.希望得到最好结果，准备应付最坏的情况。再比如：I hope to have finished the work by now.真希望现在工作已经结束了。We can't hope to win an easy victory.我们不能指望轻易取胜。I hope very much to go to the exhibition.我非常希望去参观展览会。

expect含有“预期，期望”的意思，表示预期要发生的情况，且有一定的根据，肯定的程度比hope高，后可接名词、代词、that从句、不定式或带不定式的复合结构。

desire是“渴望，期望，希望”的意思，与wish和want同义。desire比wish庄重，且意味强，是热切期望（wish earnestly）之意；比want的用法正式，口语中不太用desire。
