　　麦莉在11岁时参加《孟汉娜》电视系列剧的角色征选，当时她征选的角色为孟汉娜的好朋友Lily Truscott，不过面试后剧组希望她出演孟汉娜，但最后因为麦莉年纪太小而作罢。剧组在婉拒麦莉后征试了更多演员，例如在《Gossip Girl》中演出的Taylor Momsen，不过最后剧组仍起用麦莉，并让她的父亲 Billy RayCyrus 亲自演出剧中父亲的角色。在《孟汉娜》于2006年3月24日在美国首播后，麦莉随即在美国红起来，现在已是一位大红大紫的明星。麦莉可算是遗传了她父亲的歌唱和演戏的天分，她不但会唱歌、演戏，还会作曲。2006年10月24日，迪士尼唱片终于推出了她的专辑，虽然只是电视剧原声大碟，但意义重大，因为这原声大碟是Billboard专辑榜史上第一张排行第一的电视剧原声大碟。2007年，她开始了《Best of Both Worlds》巡回演唱会，场场爆满，一票难求。
