第40课 复习
Henry Black and Ned Bell live near our house.
亨利·布莱克和内德·贝尔住在我们家附近。
They go to school, and I see them go by each day with their books and slates.
他们在上学，我看到他们每天带着书和画板去上学。
Miss May tells the girls and boys that they should be at the schoolhouse when the bell rings.
梅小姐告诉女孩和男孩们，他们应该在上课铃声响时都已到达学校。
So Henry walks fast, and is first at school.
亨利走得很快，而且第一个到达学校。
He is a good boy, and wants to keep the rule of the school.
他是个好男孩，想遵守学校的规定。
Ned is not a good boy. I do not think he likes to go to school or to church.
内德可不是个好孩子。我觉得他不喜欢上学或去教堂。
I saw him try to kill a quail with a stone.
我看到过他想用石头砸死一只鹌鹑。
The quail is too quick a bird for that, and Ned did not hurt it; but I know that a good child would not try to kill a bird.
鹌鹑是一种非常敏捷的鸟，内德没能伤到它。但我认为，一个好孩子绝不会想把鸟弄死的。
