The search for those missing, feared buried beneath the rubble of these two New York City apartment blocks, went on through the night. The number of dead rose to at least four on Thursday. Another 36 have been injured in the explosion that caused the collapse, blamed on a gas leak. Earlier on Wednesday residents in the area spoke of the moment the blast hit.

Nearly a full week has gone by since the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and a massive international search has yet to find a single trace. Twelve nations are now involved in the hunt for the missing plane and its 239 passengers and crew. It's one of the world's most baffling aviation mysteries. It's also casting a harsh spotlight on Malaysia's government and its handling of the incident. During the search there's been a litany of confusing messages and a perceived lack of transparency. The problems have included conflicting information about the last time of contact with the missing jet. Asia Pacific senior vice president of sales for Boeing, makers of the missing aircraft, on Thursday refused to speculate but sought to allay any safety fears.

Obama held talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk at the White House Wednesday -- Searching for diplomatic leverage to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to loosen his military grip on Crimea.

While a multi-nation effort goes on to find the missing MH370 plane--its carrier, Malaysia Airlines, is bearing stock market losses--so far the stock is down more than 20% year to date.
Malaysia Airlines stock price dropped as much as 18 per cent in early trading on the first day of trading since the incident Monday. They hit record lows before rebounding somewhat later in the day.
There concerns about the impact the incident will have on the company’s already shaky bottom line.
It could hit public perceptions, bookings, and increase insurance premiums for the national flag carrier.
Malaysia Airlines hasn’t been profitable since 2010. Last year it recorded losses of 360 million dollars. It faced high fuel costs, high labour costs, and above all intense competition, not least from Malaysia-based low cost carrier Air Asia.
There are some worries about how the incident will affect the company’s business plans, its grand master plan to return Malaysia Airlines to the black.
Analysts say much will depend on customers and investors view Malaysia Airlines handling of this crisis.

Iran's official news agency reports that Russia will build two nuclear power plants in the Persian Gulf city of Bushehr. The IRNA news agency said on Wednesday that Russian and Iranian nuclear officials had reached an initial agreement and a formal deal would be signed later.
Each plant would have a capacity of o1000-megawatts plus water purification capabilities. The new plants will be built next to the existing power station in Bushehr, which was also build with Russia’s help.
That plant has been online since 2011 with a capacity of one thousand megawatts.
