Xiaohong：What does the word “small-town swot” mean？

小红：小镇做题家是什么意思？

Xiaohua：According to The Economist, the word “small-town swot” was coined by those who, despite the odds, make it to elite universities often feeling socially isolated. Most of them took to social media to describe being “lost and confused” at universities after leaving the straightforward environment of school, where passing tests was the focus.

小华：根据《经济学人》，“小镇做题家”这个词被那些排除万难最终被一流名校录取的寒门学生造出来，他们往往会感到自己与周围格格不入。许多人在社交媒体上发言称，自己在离开学校这个成绩至上的“单纯环境”后，变得“迷茫而无助”。

Xiaohong：Well, it seems to be accurate! The word “swot” often used in British English and Americans use the word "grind", meaning a person who spends too much time studying. It's derogatory. Do you feel insulted when you hear the heated discussion?

小红：嗯，貌似描述很准确。swot这个词是英式英语词汇，美国人用grind，指的是一个花了很多时间学习的人，含贬义。你在听到这个激烈讨论的时候感到被侮辱了吗？

Xiaohua：Kinda. But I think it happens everywhere.

小华：有点。但是这种情况在哪儿都有啊。

Xiaohong：Yes. So the best way is to change yourself and adapt yourself to the new environment. Try to look on bright side of things and seize a chance.

小红：是的。所以，最好的办法是改变自己，适应新环境。看到事物积极的一面，抓住时机。

Xiaohua：Agreed.
