替代型能源包括风能、太阳能、潮汐能、地热能等等。
The only alternative to being taken prisoner was to die fighting.

career
n. 生涯，职业
The technological innovations of recent years have changed the nature of many jobs and influenced the careers of many people.

collision
n. 碰撞；冲突，抵触

concede
vi. 让步，认输 vt. （不情愿地）承认，承认…为真（或正确）；（在结果确定前）承认失败；允许，让予
The Democratic Party conceded defeat as soon as the election results were known.
大选结果一揭晓，民主党就承认失败。
After the First World War Germany conceded its neighbors much valuable land.

contribution
n. 贡献，促成作用；捐款，捐献物；（投给报刊等的）稿件
Mr. He Zhenliang has made an important contribution to the Olympic bid.
何振梁先生为中国申奥做出了重大贡献。

donation
n. 捐款，捐赠物；捐赠，赠送
The charity has received over $10 million in donations.
这个慈善机构收到了超过1000 万元的捐赠。

embarrass
vt. 使窘，使尴尬，使不好意思
The decline of sales embarrassed the company.
销路下降使公司陷于财政困难。
It embarrassed him (He was embarrassed) when he found he hadn't enough money to invite his girlfriend to dinner.
当他发现自己不够钱请女友吃晚饭时，觉得很尴尬。

embrace
vt. 拥抱；包括；包围 n. 拥抱，怀抱
In the past, Chinese lovers were too reserved to embrace or kiss each other in public. But it is not the case now.
过去中国的情侣太过含蓄而不会当众拥抱或亲吻，但是现在不同了。

exclusive
a. 奢华的，高级的；独有的，独享的；排斥的，排他的；（of）不包括…的，不把…计算在内的 n. 独家新闻
Hair is exclusive in mammals.
毛发是哺乳动物独有的。
Some journalists are willing to get the exclusive at any costs.
有些记者愿意不惜一切代价获取独家新闻。
