compromise
n.妥协，折中办法 vi. 妥协 vt.危及，放弃(原则，理想等）
I would rather die than compromise.
我宁死不妥协。
Such conduct will compromise your reputation.
如此举动将会损害你的名誉。

contradiction
n. 矛盾；否认，反驳
Is it a contradiction to love animals and yet wear furs?
又爱护动物又穿皮毛服装是矛盾的吗？

contrary
a.（to）相反的，对抗的 n.（the ～）相反，相反事物
Contrary to all advice he gave up his job and left for the south.
他不听任何劝告，放弃了工作，去了南方。
I'm not sick; on the contrary, I'm in the peak of health.
我没有病；恰恰相反，我健康极了。

controversy
n.争论，辩论 法庭，法院；球场；
The appointment of the new director aroused a lot of controversy.
新负责人的任命引起了激烈的争论。
The conclusion is based on facts that are beyond controversy.
结论基于无可争议的事实。

court
n.法庭，法院；球场；宫廷，宫室；庭院，院子
The prisoner was brought to court for trial.
这个犯人被带上法庭接受审判
If you have to resort to court to solve the disputes, you should, first of all, hire a good lawyer.
如果你要诉诸法律来解决争端，首先得请一名好律师。

delicate
a.易破碎的，脆弱的；微妙的，棘手的；娇弱的，纤细的；精美的，雅致的
The international situation is very delicate at present.
当前的国际形势十分微妙。
Delicate plants must be protected from cold wind and frost.
娇弱的植物必须妥善保护以避免风霜的侵袭。

distinction
n.差别，不同；区分，辨别；优秀，杰出；荣誉，优待
There is no obvious distinction between the twins.
这对孪生子之间没有什么明显的差别。
A distinction should be made between the primary and secondary contradictions.
要区分主要矛盾和次要矛盾。

economic
经济学，经济状况；经济因素，经济意义

ensure

We can ensure that the work shall be done in the right way.

feasible

gear
n.齿轮，传动装置，（排）挡；（从事某项活动所需的）用具，设备，衣服 vt.使适应，使合适
Education should be geared to students' needs.

Learn to shift gear at the right moment while driving.
开车要学会在适当的时候换挡。

grip
n.紧握，抓牢；掌握，控制 vt.紧握，抓牢；吸引住……的注意力（或想象力等）
The brake doesn't grip properly.
刹车不灵。
Van Gogh's Sunflower can always grip my imagination.
梵高的画《向日葵》总能引起我的想象。
