So what is the second cold war? Well the original cold war was an indirectly confrontational standoff from 1945 to 1991.It was between the Western bloc made up by the United States and NATO against the Eastern bloc, which was the Soviet Union and satellite states. The split was largely based on ideological differences pitting the capitalist west with the communist East. The cold war was considered cold as be their side took part in regional warfare. However fighting did take place in the form of proxy wars in Korea in Vietnam in Afghanistan, which both sides supported financially and militarily. The cold war ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Today's cold war 2.0 is largely the result of Russian opposition to NATO expansion following the collapse of the Soviet Union. In recent years,Russia's President Vladimir Putin had promoted conservative policy and anti-western ideology, known as Putinism.

This created dangerous uncertainty within the international community reminiscent up the original cold-war. Some speculate that Russia plans to continue invading and annex those former countries. As a result of Russia's government controlling domestc media sources, their reporting has been recently referred to as information manipulation and mass hallucinations with no basis in reality. The East versus West standoff has dangerous implications for the rest of the world, especially as nuclear weapons come into play.

The global oil price benchmark, Brent, has fallen to less than US$50 a barrel for the first time in six months. That's in large part due to a sluggish global economy and an oil production boom.
The price on ICE Futures Europe dropped nearly 5.2 percent to US$49.52 a barrel, the largest single-day loss since early July.
Meanwhile, the US crude for September delivery fell more than 4 percent to about US$45.2 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

伊朗称考虑释放中国渔船
The Iran Fisheries Organization says it's considering the release of 10 Chinese fishing boats confiscated near Iran's southwestern coast. The ships were bound for Bandar Abbas and were approaching Iran to replenish their supplies when they were seized last week.
The deputy chairman of the fishing organization -- Ali Asghar Mojahedi -- says the boats had entered Iranian waters in coordination with Iran and weren't involved in any illegal fishing. He says the “Maritime Security Committee” intercepted the boats solely for more investigation.
