Typhoon Hagupit pounded the central Philippines, Sunday, causing floods, toppling trees and cutting power lines. And now, officials confirm at least three people have died. Howling winds and rain destroyed houses, roofs were ripped off and many thatched homes were lifted and then dumped a few feet away. And the National Disaster Agency says it isn't over yet:

The numbers perked up in November from October, indicating an increase in business activities as the Christmas holiday approaches. Data shows that the November logistics index came in at 56.5 percent, up 1.6 percentage point from October.
Analysts say the increase was due to the lingering effects of China's Single's Day shopping extravaganza, and the fast-nearing Christmas holiday in the West that drives up trade and boosts shipping by sea. Meanwhile, new business orders have remained above the 50 percent mark in an indication of increasing logistics business this month.
"The logistics confidence index picked up a little from October," He Hui, deputy director from China Logistics Info Center, said. "This shows that business activity in production sales and the consumption stages climbed at a faster rate compared to the previous month. The Single's Day impact is still there. Trade is also included as Christmas is coming up in western countries, therefore pushing up shipping."
