Train slams into school bus in northern India, killing five and injuring 25
It was an accident waiting to happen. Five children were killed and more than two dozen injured when a train and school bus collided at an unguarded railway crossed in northern India. Residents of the town in Uttar Pradesh say they have been demanding that authorities install a gate at the crossing, but that never happened. Injured children were rushed to a local hospital where parents and medical workers tended to them in a chaotic scene. Road and rail accidents are common in India which has a notoriously rundown infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to fix it, but that promise comes too late for the victims of Thursday's accident.

A two-year-old boy is recovering in a Polish hospital, after he was found face down and unconscious in below freezing temperatures. There's speculation the boy was sleepwalking when he left his grandmother's house in the early hours -- and found here, wearing only socks and a pajama top. Waking up from a coma, doctors are optimistic he'll make a full recovery. And his parents say they couldn't be happier with the news:

Woman arrested for stabbing U.S. teacher in Abu Dhabi
Police go in for the arrest. The woman is accused of stabbing to death an American teacher, identified as Ibolya Ryan, in an Abu Dhabi shopping mall. Police say the suspect is the woman in black, caught on security camera inside the mall, before and after the crime was committed. They say the suspect also placed a makeshift bomb, that's since been dismantled, outside the front door of an American doctor's apartment. Both incidents are being investigated as possible terrorist attacks, that may be linked to a jihadist web forum calling for attacks on American teachers.

They're counting down at NASA ahead of Thursday's long-awaited debut test flight of a U.S. spaceship designed to fly astronauts beyond Earth's orbit of the sun for the first time since the 1960s. NASA administrator Charles Bolden says everyone at the agency is excited. NASA ADMINISTRATOR CHARLIE BOLDEN SAYING: "Tomorrow morning you will see us press harder than we've pressed before because for the first time in more than 40 years, this nation is going to launch a space craft intended to carry humans beyond the Earth's orbit. That is a big deal." Anunmanned version of an Orion capsule is scheduled to lift off aboard a Delta 4 Heavy rocket at 7:05 a.m. Eastern from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Program Manager Mark Geyer leads the project. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NASA ORION PROGRAM MANAGER MARK GEYER SAYING:"It does help this is unmanned. It's important this is unmanned because we actually structured the test to fly the riskiest pieces of the flight. This is the time to do it when it's unmanned so we intend to stress the systems to make sure they behave as we designed them to or as we modeled it so that is very important." The test run will be followed in four years by the launch of a second Orion capsule, also unmanned. That flight will send the capsule around the moon. Orion's third flight, slated for around 2021, is expected to include astronauts.

Tiger Woods prepares for comeback
Although the PGA season is over for the year, Tiger Woods was getting some practice in on Tuesday ahead of his most recent return to the links this weekend at the Hero World Challenge.
Woods is making his latest comeback with an eye to the past. This is the fifth time Woods has returned from injury over the last five years.
The breaks have ranged from four weeks to four months. He last competed on August 9th when he missed the cut at the PGA Championship, ending the shortest season of his career and the first time he did not have a top 10.
Woods said he had enough time off to let his body heal and to think about where he wants his game to go.
He announced just over a week ago that he had hired Dallas-based Chris Como as a swing consultant.
"Well, probably the first point. I'm older. Father Time is undefeated. We all eventually are losing some of the things we are able to do when we were younger. As an athlete, yeah, you do notice these things. We all have to make adaptations as athletes, and we have to make adjustments. And I'm no different. As I've explained to you guys many times, like MJ created a fadeaway. He couldn't jump over everybody anymore. It's going to be nice playing a tournament this week and getting a feel for being under the heat and see where my swing is," Woods said.
