Gunfire violence in Kiev despite 'truce'
基辅停战期间枪声暴力持续
Just hours after a truce was declared by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and opposition leaders, violence and gunfire erupted in the center of Kiev Thursday morning resulting in casualties and injuries. Anti-government demonstrators hurled petrol bombs and stones at riot police in Independence Square, the center of a three-month standoff. Demonstrators could be seen dragging bodies through the streets, others were being covered with blankets. At least 28 people have been killed including 10 police officers. Both sides have accused the other of using live ammunition. All of this on the day foreign ministers from France, Germany and Poland are meeting with Yanukovich to discuss a political compromise. The crisis began last year when Yanukovich pulled out of a trade agreement with the EU under pressure from Moscow.

5 dead in Venezuelan protests
委内瑞拉抗议活动致5人死亡
A 22 year old college student and model is the latest casualty in the ongoing violent protests across Venezuela. Genesis Carmona, seen here being carried to a hospital, was shot in the head during a protest on Tuesday in Valencia- she later died from her wounds. Carmona is the fifth person to have been shot dead in anti-government protests this month that are multiplying in size and levels of violence. The leader of the student led movement, 42 year old Harvard educated economist Leopoldo Lopez, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is being held on murder and terrorism charges. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was narrowly elected last year after the death of Hugo Chavez, said Lopez and others are conspiring with the U.S. government and are seeking a coup against him. This fascist that we detain is well guarded in prison, he said after a meeting with his ministers. The demonstrators are demanding Maduro's resignation and expressing a litany of complaints from inflation and violent crime to corruption and product shortages.

Aston Martin recalls 17,000 vehicles for counterfeit component
配件故障 阿斯顿马丁召回17,000辆汽车
Luxury carmaker, Aston Martin, has found itself explaining a possible "defective part" to safety regulators in the U.S. and China, following the recall of 17,000 of its vehicles. In the process, the UK-based automaker blamed a Chinese supplier for the problem.
Luxury and exclusivity are integral to the image of Aston Martin-the vehicle of choice for James Bond.
So, when an Aston Martin is found to have a cheap counterfeit component, it’s not just a safety issue, it’s an image issue that can damage the brand.
Allyson Stewart-Allen, Int'l Marketing Partners, said, "It is a branding disaster, because if you have vetted your components and you’re a luxury brand like Aston Martin, you should know every aspect of every part that goes into your machine."
Aston Martin pinned the blame for the problem - an accelerator pedal’s plastic molding - on Chinese supplier Shenzhen Kexiang Mould Tool Co.
Trouble is, the boss at the little factory in southern China, Zhang Zhiang, said he wasn’t even aware that Aston Martin was one of his customers.
In an email to China’s Global Times, Aston Martin said it had no direct relationship with Shenzhen Kexiang and didn’t blame the company for, quote: Aston Martin’s accusation reportedly angered consumers in China.
China’s official Xinhua news agency accused Aston Martin of being unprofessional by failing to monitor its supply chain.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Aston Martin here in the UK is keeping its head down.
