Six per cent is today's daily digit in Europe - the amount Nokia shares rose after a positive forecast for its telecom equipment unit. Nokia Solutions and Networks is expecting a profit margin of around 12% in the fourth quarter compared to 8.4% in the third. NSN will be the Finnish company's main business after the sale of its phones division to Microsoft. While its third-quarter operating profit was down 33% on a year earlier there was also slow but steady growth in Lumia smartphone sales. 8.8 million units were sold - almost a fifth more than the same period last year. Basic phone sales were up 4% too. And while the phone division's operating margin was a negative 1.6% the results will give Nokia new hope. Shareholders vote on the Microsoft deal next month. NSN will account for around 90 % of the group's sales once it's completed.

Brahimi also dismissed reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad might attend the talks. So far, no indication that the opposition groups will take the bait, and come to the negotiation table.

The H7N9 bird flu has infected 136 people and left 45 dead, since it was first reported in China in March. Many of the victims died of organ failure and the lack of a vaccine to prevent the flu had authorities worried. But now, with the announcement that researchers have developed a vaccine, there is new hope. However, questions remain as to whether with winter closing in, it will be ready in time for flu season.
One of the world's deadliest viruses has now met its match. A vaccine against the H7N9 virus has been developed by scientists in China. The announcement being made on Sunday. Head researcher, Professor Li Lanjuan, said they did it by isolating H7N9 from a throat swab sample of a patient infected in April. And used reverse genetics to create the vaccine.
"Our new vaccine has been tested by various institutions, including Zhejiang University, as well as Hong Kong University -and it meets international standards. In the past, we used to import vaccines, but now, we make them ourselves." Said li.
So far, the vaccine has passed tests on ferrets, but further testing is required before it is made available in medical institutions.
Reporter: "The vaccine was jointly developed by five Chinese institutions, including the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University’s Medical School, along with Hong Kong University, the National Institute of Food and Drug Control, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Chinese Center for Disease Prevention and Control, behind me... Marking a breakthrough not just in preventing H7N9... But also for medical science in China. Despite this, concerns have been raised elsewhere in the world as to whether there would be enough of such a vaccine to go round, as winter sets in."
China saw fewer H7N9 cases during the warmer months this year, with just one reported since August. But new infections are more likely in winter. Due to a lack of ventilation caused by the smog brought on by coal-powered heating. According to Doctor Michael Osterholm from the University of Minnesota, the global vaccine manufacturing capacity for H7N9 vaccines could be just 757 million doses. But Professor Li is confident in China’s ability to meet demand in the near future.
"We will produce however much the government states." Li said.
Whether China’s vaccine is enough - and ready in time - to stop the fatal flu, will be tested in the months ahead as the mercury continues to plunge.

Police are investigating a hoax phone call claiming a flight to Changsha city in central China's Hunan was carrying explosives.
Changsha airport received the anonymous call overnight. It immediately launched a contingency plan, stopping all flights from taking off, and evacuating passengers. They were then sent back to security for a second round of checks.
"At about 10:20pm, we were told the flight was threatened. We were really scared. We all left the plane with our baggage and went through another round of checks." Shanghai passenger Miss Hu said.
After two hours of checks, no hazardous items were found.
"During the night, 11 flights were affected. The longest flight delay was two hours and ten minutes." Said Zeng Guangcai, command center head of Changsha International Airport.
More than a thousand passengers were stranded during the checks. But, by 11:30pm, the airport ended the alert and allowed passengers to reboard their flights. Police are investigating the case.
