That compares with 21 in the whole of 2011. NATO Brigadier General Gunter Katz, says often these attacks are more personal than political. NATO BRIGADIER GENERAL GUNTER KATZ, SAYING: "Actually there is a kind of common denominator and that is that most of those incidents were caused by personal grievances and or stress situations." 2【Japan, South Korea spar over islands】独(竹)岛之争再起 日本要求打国际官司
TEXT:A helicopter carrying South Korea's president touches down on a disputed island in the Pacific Ocean on Friday. While it only lasted a day, this visit by Lee Myung-bak touched off a diplomatic firestorm with Japan, which also claims the island - and several others in the area. On Saturday, Japan's foreign minister said his country would seek an international ruling on the issue. "We are looking to bring this case to the International Court for Justice," Koichiro Gemba says, "to seek a peaceful solution" South Korea has twice rebuffed smiliar Japanese efforts in the past. The islands, known as Takeshima in Japan and Dokdo in South Korea, lie midway between the two countries. Although the island chain is relatively small, it is believed to contain natural gas deposits worth billions of dollars.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER SAYING: "Unfortunately for the Sikh community, this sort of violence has become all too common in recent years. The gunmen, 40-year-old U.S. Army veteran Wade Michael Page was shot in the stomach by a police officer before shooting himself in the head, according to authorities. 4【Australians rally for same sex marriage】澳大利亚同性婚姻集会
TEXT:People take to the streets of Brisbane, Australia, to voice their support for same-sex marriage. Thousands attended similar rallies across the country on Saturday - a show of force that comes as legislators here mull the hot-button issue. Advocates say 11 countries and several U.S. states have already legalized gay marriage, and Australia is falling behind. NATIONAL CONVENER OF AUSTRALIAN MARRIAGE EQUALITY, ALEX GREENWICH, SAYING: "I think the world looks to Australia and is confused. They know that a majority of Australians support this reform and they know that Australians are fair-minded people who value equality. But the problem we have is the interference that our Government puts in." Others had even harsher words for the country's leaders. GAY MARRIAGE CAMPAIGNER, ELISSA DOWN, SAYING: "It's pathetic! I mean, the second country to give women the right to vote and yet we are dragging our feet. Where's that spirit that back in 1901 had women with the right to vote." Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has said she is personally against gay marriage. However, she promised to allow her party a free vote on the issue, though a date for that showdown has not been set.

【Female Olympians Get Motivated for 2016 Games】
视频下载(点击右键另存为)
TEXT:Ije Enwerem has been throwing the discus for four years. She's thought to be a contender for the next summer Olympics, in Rio, four years from now.
Being female, she says, has made her work harder. "No-one ever really pays attention to throwers, let alone to the women, so you always want to be as good as the men to prove that there is talent out there," she said.
Enwerem is one of a group of young athletes who went to a motivational talk in East London, where this year's Olympics are taking place.
The speaker was Teresa Edwards, a four-time Olympic champion in women's basketball and Team USA's chief of mission.
She says in the past women were shunned from the sporting world. "Participation was thought to kill us or to take us backwards or to threaten our abilities to have babies and things like that," she explained. "That's where we have come from in the past. It's not about that anymore. We have definitely proven that fact."
But today women are competing in every Olympic sport. And many countries are sending more women than men to the Games.
Edwards says doors have been opened to female athletes that were often closed in the past.
It's progress, she says, but there are still some girls who are left behind. "It's sad to think that we live in a day and age that someone is actually telling a little girl that she can't participate in sport for whatever reason, I don't know what that would be," Edwards stated. "So all we have to do is continue to do what we do as female athletes -- our participation, be an example and a role model and hopefully they will follow and know that all is well."
For Enwerem, she says it's her female sports idols that keep her focused and will help her make it, she hopes, to the 2016 Games.
