曼宁支持者在白宫抗议 请求总统宽恕
Dozens gather outside the White House to protest the sentencing of U.S. soldier Bradley Manning. The 25-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday to 35 years in a military prison for turning over more than 700,000 classified files to WikiLeaks. Manning was working as an intelligence analyst in Baghdad in 2010 when he gave WikiLeaks a trove of diplomatic cables and battlefield accounts. He stood quietly in court and showed no emotion as he was sentenced. One protester said he was not surprised by the verdict.

Manning, who will be dishonourably discharged from the military, will serve his sentence in the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. Military parole rules could allow him to be out of prison in seven years, his lawyer said.

马来西亚公交车坠入峡谷 数十人死亡
Rescue workers sift through the wreckage of a deadly bus crash in Malaysia that killed more than 30 passengers. The bus was traveling from a gambling resort back to the capital of Kuala Lumpur when it plunged 200 feet -- or 60 meters into a ravine. Crews used a crane to lower rescuers down to the bus, which was wedged in between the trees. Workers found at least a dozen survivors and transported them to a local hospital. The resort, Genting Highlands, has Malaysia's only legal casino.

More Muslim Brotherhood supporters arrested
更多穆斯林兄弟会支持者被捕
Egyptian state television broadcasts a photo of incendiary preacher Safwat Hegazy, surrounded by security forces. Nile TV reported on Wednesday that Hegazy, who has links to the Muslim Brotherhood, was arrested while trying to flee Egypt across the Libyan border. He was with Murad Ali, a media advisor to the Brotherhood's political party, who was also arrested. The two are among the latest supporters of the Brotherhood to be detained as authorities here crack down on sympathizers. Mohamed Badie, the group's leader, was taken into custody earlier this week. Other high-ranking members have already been detained, prompting many Brotherhood supporters and officials to go into hiding. The news comes as security forces keep a close eye on a Cairo neighbourhood where anti-government protesters had set up camp for six weeks. The camp and a smaller sit-in were forcibly cleared out last week, resulting in the deaths of hundreds and leaving the area in ruins. Egypt's military has been signalling its determination to crush the group and silence all protests after former president Mohamed Mursi was toppled in July. The government has declared a month-long state of emergency and enforced a curfew from dusk to dawn.

EU to terminate anti-dumping case against Chinese tubes
欧盟取消对华不锈钢管反倾销调查
More good news for the Chinese manufacturing industry, as the trade tensions between China and the European Union are continuing to appease.
On Wednesday, the European Commission announced that it had decided to formally terminate anti-dumping proceedings against Chinese steel tubes and pipes.
The initial investigation of this case started in September last year, as EU steel industry players launched complaints against Chinese companies. However, the complainants withdrew their complaints on July 27 this year. This ultimately led to the formal termination of this anti-dumping proceeding by the European Commission. However, disputes over the dumping of European wine, solar panels and polysilicon are still continuing.

Next week’s US Open has lost some star power as Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the year’s final Grand Slam of the season citing a right shoulder injury. The U.S. Tennis Association announced the withdrawal of the 2006 champion.
Sharapova, who was originally seeded third for the Open, says she had hoped to be able to go but the Russian’s shoulder just wasn’t ready. The draw for the Slam at Flushing Meadows will be held on Thursday ahead of the start of round one play on Monday.
