今年7月以来，持续高温的天气，电力大省四川出现了用电缺口不得不对工业用户进行限电。除工厂停止供应生产用电，在成都等地，还要求关闭公共区域LED屏幕，严格执行公共建筑空调温度在28℃以上的控制标准。今天我们就来学习和这一新闻相关的知识。

场景：小华和小红听新闻，听闻四川限电的消息，心里颇为担忧。

Xiaohua：What? Sichuan began limiting electricity supply to homes, offices and malls. That's too bad.

小华：什么?四川开始限制家庭、办公室和商场的电力供应。这是可怕的。

Xiaohong：Yes. The power limitation was due to a severe power crunch.

小红：是的。电力限制是由于严重的电力短缺。

Xiaohua：What caused the power crunch?

小华：是什么导致了电力短缺?

Xiaohong：It was driven by extreme heat waves and drought.

小红：它是由极端热浪和干旱造成的。

Xiaohua：An example of which is Dazhou, residential areas, offices and shopping malls were informed of rotating brownouts.

小华：以达州为例，居民小区、写字楼、商场实行轮流限电。

Xiaohong：Wow, residential brownouts are rare.

小红：哇，住宅限电是罕见的。

Xiaohua：That's true. This is my first time to hear such a power limitation.

小华：这是真的。这是我第一次听到这样的电力限制。

Xiaohong：But the government limits power supply to industries first to prioritize residential and commercial use in this power squeeze.

小红：但政府限制了工业的电力供应，在电力紧缺的情况下优先考虑住宅和商业用途。

Xiaohua：What's more, fountains, light shows and commercial activities during the night hours are to be suspended. Why was that?

小华：此外，喷泉、灯光表演和夜间商业活动将暂停。这是为什么呢?

Xiaohong：I think Sichuan really relies on hydropower to generate 80% its power. Soaring temperatures and little rain this summer have reduced hydropower generation in the province.

小红：我觉得四川80%的电力都是靠水电发的。今年夏天飙升的气温和少雨减少了该省的水力发电。

Xiaohua：I hope that everything will return to normal soon.

小华：我希望一切都会很快恢复正常。
