Hi. I'm Rebecca from engVid.The word "enough" is a very commonly used word in English.
嗨,我是 Rebecca,来自engVid。"enough"这个词在英语中非常常用。
Unfortunately, it's also a very commonly misused word.
可惜的是,它也是一个经常被用错的词。
That means that many students make mistakes while using this otherwise rather simple word.
这意味着很多学生在用这个格外简单的词时出错了。
The reason for that is because the word "enough" can be used in two different ways, and in this lesson we're going to learn exactly how to do that. Okay?
出错的原因是因为 “enough” 这个词有两种不同的使用方式,本节课我们会学习究竟该如何用它。好吗?
Let's get started. So, first of all, what does the word "enough" mean?
我们开始吧。所以,首先,"enough" 这个词是什么意思?
It means that you have as much or as many of something as you need. All right?
意思是你有足够多的你需要的某物。对吧?
For example, if you have just a few minutes, you have enough time to watch this lesson and to learn the lesson.
例如,如果你有几分钟时间,你有足够的时间看这门课,或者学这门课程。
Okay?Learn how to use the word "enough".All right.
对吧?学习如何使用 "enough"这个单词。好。
So, what are these two ways in which we can use the word "enough"?
那么,我们使用"enough"这个词有哪两种方式?
You can either use it before a noun, or after an adjective or an adverb.Okay?
你既可以将它放在名词前,也可以放在形容词或副词后使用。对吧?
Now, I know that's a lot of grammar, so let's look at some examples.
现在,我知道这涉及很多语法,所以让我们看一些例子吧。
So, when we use "enough" before a noun, we could say: "We have enough food for the party.",
那么,我们将 "enough" 用在名词前的时候,我们可以说:“我们有足够的食物开派对。”
"We have enough space in this room for everyone.", "We have enough chairs for all the guests."Okay?
“我们这个房间有足够的地方给每个人。”,“我们有足够的椅子给所有的客人。”对吧?
So that's an example of "enough" before a noun. Now, as I said, you can also use it after an adjective.
所以这是一个 "enough"在名词前的例子。接着,像我说的,你还可以把它用在形容词后。
For example: "It's warm enough in the room."Okay?
例如:“这个房间足够暖和了。”对吧?
Or: "Is your tea sweet enough?", or "The teacher explained the lesson clearly enough for everyone to understand."
或者:“你的茶足够甜吗?”,或者“老师把这门课解释得很清楚足够让每位同学都明白。”
Okay?So the last one was an adverb, the other two were adjectives.
对吧?那么最后一个是副词,其他的两个是形容词。
Now, let's take one example and use the word "enough" in these two different ways to see exactly how it works.
现在,让我们将一个例句分别用"enough" 的两种用法来看清楚究竟该怎么用。
First: "He has enough money to buy the car."Right? So, here, before a noun.Right?"He has enough money".
第一个:“他有足够的钱买这辆车。”对吧?所以,这里,是在名词前。对吧?“他有足够的钱。”
Second example: "He is rich enough to buy the car."Okay?
第二个例子:“他足够富有买这辆车。”对吧?
So now we see that the "enough" comes after the adjective.
所以这里我们看到 "enough" 在形容词后面。
"He has enough money", "He is rich enough".All right?
“他有足够的钱”,“他足够富有”。对吧?
So, that's how it works and that's all you really need to learn, but let's do some practice just to make sure that you really got it.
所以,这就是它的用法和所有你确实应该了解的,但是让我们来做一些练习,确保你是真的明白了。
So, the first word: "rice".So do we say that we have "enough rice" or "rice enough"?
所以,第一个单词:“rice”。所以我们说我们有 "enough rice"还是"rice enough"?
So, "rice" is a noun, so we need to say:"enough rice". Okay?
那么,"rice" 是一个名词,所以我们要说:"enough rice"。对吧?
I'm not going to write the word "enough", I'll just put the "e" on this side or that side, according to whatever you tell me.
我不打算写"enough"这个单词,我会只是把字母"e"根据你们的答复放在这边或这边。
All right.Next word: "carefully".Do we say: "enough carefully" or "carefully enough"?
好。下一个单词:"carefully"。我们说:"enough carefully"还是 "carefully enough"?
It should be "carefully enough"."He drove carefully enough to pass the driving exam."
它应该是"carefully enough"。“他开车很小心足够通过驾照考试了。”
Okay? All right.Do we say: "enough experience" or "experience enough"?
对吧?好。我们说:"enough experience" 还是"experience enough"?
"He has enough experience."Very good. Okay.Do we say: "enough tall" or "tall enough"?
“他有足够的经验。”很好。好了。我们说:"enough tall" 还是 "tall enough"?
All right? It should be: "He was tall enough to reach the top shelf." Okay?
对吗?应该是:“他足够高够得到顶层的柜子。”对吧?
Good, you're doing really well.Let's continue.Do we say: "The house was enough clean" or "clean enough"?
很好,你们做得真的不错。我们继续。我们说:"The house was enough clean" 还是"clean enough"?
Which one?I hope you said: "The house was clean enough."Very good.
哪一个?但愿你们说的是:“这个房子足够干净。”非常好。
Do we say: "There were enough people" or "people enough"?
我们说:"There were enough people" 还是"people enough"?
What do you think?"There were enough people."Again, "people" is a noun so it's going to come before.
你认为呢?“这里有足够多的人。”再说一次,"people"是一个名词,所以要把"enough"放在其之前。
You'll see wherever we have the e's on this side, that means those words are nouns; wherever we have the e's on that side it means those words are adjectives or adverbs.
你会发现只要我们把'e'放在这边意味着这些单词是名词;只要我们把'e'放在那边,那意味着这些单词是形容词或者副词。
Right? This was an example of an adverb.Let's continue.
对吧?这是一个副词的例子。我们继续。
"The candidate had enough votes" or "The candidate had votes enough", what do you think?
"The candidate had enough votes" 或者 "The candidate had votes enough",你觉得是哪个?
It should be: "enough votes to win the election".Okay, good.
应该是:“足够的选票来赢得竞选。嗯,很好。
"You speak enough well to give a presentation" or should we say: "You speak well enough to give a presentation"?
"You speak enough well to give a presentation" 或者我们应该说:"You speak well enough to give a presentation"?
What do you think? It should be "well enough".All right, very good.
你认为是哪个?应该是"well enough"。很好,非常棒。
"We have enough rooms for everyone" or "we have rooms enough"?
"We have enough rooms for everyone" 还是 "we have rooms enough"?
I'm saying "rooms", okay? So: "We have enough rooms for everyone." Good.
我说的"rooms",对吧?所以是:“我们有足够的房间给每个人。”好。
And: "The house is enough quiet for the baby to sleep" or "The house is quiet enough for the baby to sleep"?
还有:是 "The house is enough quiet for the baby to sleep"还是 "The house is quiet enough for the baby to sleep"?
What do you think?Ready? Right: "The house is quiet enough." Okay?
你觉得呢?想好了吗?正确的是:“这个房间足够安静。”
So, as you can see, it does take a little bit of practice. Okay? But I know you can get it.
所以,正如你看到的,它确实需要一些练习,对吧?但我知道你可以学会。
