1. Get gloomy with sth.

Gloomy 这个词应该算得上是个常用词汇了，因为每当心情不好的时候，我们就会用得到，比如：What's going on? Youlook gloomy today. 当然我们也可以说 sth is gloomy，打个比方， Our future is gloomy.指的就是“前途暗淡！”而短语 get gloomy with sth 指的是对某种东西感到焦虑，甚至有时是到了忧郁的地步。原文当中的这句话 Iget gloomy with the state of the world. 指的就是"对世界的现状感到焦虑！"

如果要完全理解这句话，我们首先要看一下dignified 这个词，通常情况下，在我们的意识里dignified这个词指的是“有尊严的，高贵的”。但是在这里意思就完全不一样了，它指的是“使夸大……”。下一个词 newsworthy的意思是“具有新闻报道价值的”。那么把整个一句话连起来的意思就是“这种爱没有被特意夸大或者有新闻价值！”
