More than 100 students enrolled at a vocational school in South China were turned away on registration day because there wasn't enough dorm space for them.

The Guangxi Industry and Commerce School (GICS) in Nanning broke the news of the over-enrollment to students when they attempted to register for classes last Saturday, a parent posted on social media.

The students had waited into the night before the school finally broke the news of the over-enrollment, a student said.

'The problem began when the school sent out a total of 2,000 enrollment offers to new students despite only having room for 900 in the school's dormitories', a GICS employee explained.

"We sent offers to all the students who had contacted us and showed interest in studying at our school," the employee said.
