Everyone knows that chocolate is bad for your pets, but you might be surprised that some of the other people foods that are not only bad for your animals and could also kill them. GMA now’s resident vet Dr. Marty Becker joins us again with some of the worst human foods you can feed your fat, pet rather. But first up, we want to meet two friends from Humane Society of New York.

Well, a lot of dogs have what we call pica appetites, eat strange things and again that, they tend not to pass pennies, or anything like that. So that’s a medical emergency,the owner, you know, had abandoned this dog because of swallowing the penny, so they did a life saving surgery and announced it available for adoption.

Bad pica! If you like to adopt these cuties, it’s the Humane Society of New York, thank you so much. OK, so let’s get to it. So chocolate, first thing first, it’s the first thing we think of food that can potentially, you know, kill our pets.

Not all chocolates are created equal. First of all, the chocolates are sorta bad, why chocolates? There are something called methylxanthine and theobromine. Theobromine is like cassine, if you think of it like that. But for dogs it seems that chocolate it causes increased heart rate, increased respiration seizures, even death. (Really) Now for dark chocolate, it only takes one ounce for a ten-pound dog to cause problems, milk chocolates 10 ounces for a 10-pound dog, white chocolate which is basically sugar and butter is really no problem at all.

So don’t have them down.

外国学生了解中国文化
One of China's most traditional art forms, Peking Opera, was performed last Sunday by around 30 foreign students who are doing exchange programs at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
CCTV News reporter Fei Ye talked to the students backstage about how important is it for them to study the art.
The best way for a foreigner to understand Chinese culture is to participate, learn and experience it first hand. And that is exactly what foreign exchange students are doing by participating in the first ever Peking Opera program. Hosted by the Beijing Foreign Studies University, the purpose of the event is to help and encourage more international students to study the art form.
"With this program, we want to give foreign students an enriching and rewarding multi-faceted understanding of Chinese culture, and if they learn this art form once, it will be part of their whole experience in China and will be unforgettable. Every year, we have so many exchange students coming to China to study. And since they are very keen to learn Peking Opera, why not provide this opportunity for them," said Sun Ping, Dean of Art School, BSFU.
Students from 14 countries, including Spain, Italy, Japan and the US, are participating in the program. And variety of characters and arias were represented and performed on Sunday, from Peking Opera classics such as ‘Farewell My Concubine,’ ‘Drunken Beauty,’ and ‘Fa Men Temple’. Students trained with professional performers from the National China Peking Opera Company. Some began the journey three weeks ago, others only a week ago.
"Very tough, very exhausting but its very, very interesting. I really enjoyed it, because the movements are very different from what I've learned in Europe before, and I really enjoyed it. Before, I didn't really like Peking Opera, it was something I did not understand, but now I feel like maybe I don't really understand, but I have, like, a connection to it, so now I'm more willing to go to performances and see it and willing to understand more," said German student Sara Kredel.
American student John Rech has always wanted to try something traditional, so being able to walk in a Peking Opera performer's shoes for just three weeks gave him a great appreciation for the art form.
"It's just a very Beijing flavor, there's nothing like this in the world. It's just an opportunity to do something so Beijing...You don't have a lot of opportunities to do something like this. Look at what am I wearing; I will never have a beard this great in my life. So it's an unbelievable opportunity for me," he said.
Besides Peking Opera, foreign students also immerse themselves in other traditional activities such as calligraphy, painting and martial arts.
More than 350,000 exchange students come to China every year to study and Beijing Foreign Studies University is keen to attract more to study this traditional art, while expanding the program nationwide.

China to enhance industrial investment cooperation with Brazil

Premier Li met with the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, kicking off a tour of four big South American nations. Several major deals have already been signed, with analysts saying it signifies a major upgrade in both the style and the substance of trade and investment relations between the two countries.
First stop, Brazil. An honor guard greeted Premier Li Keqiang to this Latin American giant, at the start of his regional tour. This is his first official meeting with the Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff.
The increasing links between the two developing countries has been one of the big global economic stories of the last two decades.
The relationship is evolving. After years of largely selling China raw materials, and buying Chinese goods, Brazil is actively seeking Chinese investment in its infrastructure -something Premier Li has vowed to provide.
"China has accumulated a lot of experience in this perspective. We also have high quality equipment and look to work with Brazil to reduce the costs of building infrastructure in Brazil; and to create jobs for the local population," Li said.
Much of that investment is in huge projects. One major deal the two leaders signed off on is the construction of a 2,000-kilometer high voltage electricity line from an as-yet unfinished Amazon hydroelectric dam, to Brazil's southeastern population centers.
From Brazil's perspective, the timing of this visit could hardly be better.
Partly owing to China's reduced demand for commodities, the economy here is close to recession, and domestic investment in infrastructure has been scaled back.
"Brazil is in a very difficult fiscal austerity situation where they can't spend any extra money on infrastructure projects, which are being reduced tremendously because of the reduction in expenditures, so China's visit and possible assistance in infrastructure projects is very well received," said professor David Fleischer, university of Brasilia.
Twenty years ago these two countries had barely any trade relations at all. Now they are almost dependent on one another.
