This is the lagoon in Brazil that is supposed to be the site for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic canoeing and rowing events. But with parts of the country grappling with the worst drought in 80 years -- it hardly looks ideal for water sports. Biologist Mario Moscatelli says it's too early to tell what will happen during the Olympics.

Special representatives from South Korea, Japan and the U.S. agreed to keep North Korean sanctions in place during a meeting in Tokyo Wednesday. The group met to discuss a number of issues, including ways to resume six-party denuclerization talks. U.S. Special Representative for North Korean Policy Sung Kim.

North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China, Russia and the United States began talks in 2003 with the aim of ridding the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons. Talks were suspended after Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile. North Korea also tested nuclear devices in 2006 and 2009.

Security forces evacuated guests, including Tripoli's prime minister and an American delegation, after the gunmen blasted through the building's security and reception. One security officer says he's lucky to be alive.

And it's not over yet. Snow is expected to keep falling throughout the day Tuesday. The whiteout conditions perfect for some cross-country skiing. SOUNDBITE: BOSTON RESIDENT NICK FOGEL SAYING: "It's sort of the novelty of being able to ski in the streets and then ski in these areas where you usually see cars packing the roads." In New York City, the storm fell short of dire predictions. Instead of three feet of snow, the city only got about 6 inches. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED NEW YORKER SAYING: "Disappointed. I want more. I'm off from work today and I feel like there is no reason for me to be off. So, I'm just going to go to the gym now and just relax at home all day." The underwhelming snow made it easier to clear streets and sidewalks. Despite dodging mother nature's bullet, many businesses and restaurants remained closed. For those who had to venture outside, the snowy conditions weren't all that bad. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED NEW YORKER SAYING: "Well this is not a bad one. A bad one was in 1947. That was a big one." Abortions have become a frequent scene in many Chinese movies about young lovers.
This reflects a fact -- no longer a secret --- that more young women in China are choosing to end their pregnancies.
"Our patient data show that the average age of patients getting abortions has been decreasing over the past years. At least half of them are 25 years or younger," Dr. Zhang Lisong with Beijing Fuxing Hospital said.
Nationwide, 13 million abortions are carried out each year. 62 per cent are performed on women aged between 20 and 29, mostly single.
More and more of these abortions are being seen in younger and younger students.
"More students in junior high school, high school or college come to get abortions. Especially after the winter or summer break. the number of students is very high," Dr. Zheng Jie with Beijing Fuxing Hospital said.
Online ads and brochures advertise "painless abortions" that are safe and easy. But reality is anything but easy and not always even safe. Up to 5 in 100 women who have abortions become infertile.
They are also prone to higher risk of bacterial infection and ectopic pregnancies.
Some also blame the lack of sex education in China. A survey by the China World Contraception Day organization showed that more than 68% of Chinese women did not understand the difference between oral contraceptives and the morning-after pill.
Only about 1 percent of Chinese women take oral contraceptives. In developed countries, that number is between 30 and 50 percent.
Efforts to increase awareness and education are underway, so young women don't have to learn these lessons the hard way.
