A search for survivors following Nairobi building collapse

At least six people were injured when the ceilings caved in, and local media reported that more are still feared beneath the rubble. Eventually, a moment of hope as rescuers find one person alive. Into the night, they continue their search, and eventually spot another possible survivor. One tenant says he barely made it out alive.

Britain expects Ebola breakthrough in Sierra Leone in 4-6 weeks

Sierra Leone is the hardest hit West African nation by the deadly Ebola virus. Now Britain plans to intensify efforts in the former British colony where the virus is spreading fastest -- although it has slowed in recent weeks. More than half the 18,000 confirmed cases of Ebola have been detected in Sierra Leone. UK International Development Secretary Justine Greening is hoping to turn the tide.

We don't take any pleasure from sanctions. But it's not our problem." While the top economic adviser at the White House spoke of a Russian economy on the brink -- Lavrov says not so. (SOUNDBITE) (English) RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, SERGEI LAVROV, SAYING: "But I can assure you that Russia would not only survive, but would come out stronger out of this. He also says it is not Russia that needs to fear for its future -- but Ukraine. (SOUNDBITE) (English) RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, SERGEI LAVROV, SAYING: "Never. Economic meltdown could happen to a small country. It can happen even to a big country like Ukraine, and it's basically almost there." The U.S. and Europe imposed sanctions after Russia's annexation of Crimea, and Kremlin backing for pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine. The conflict has become the worst crisis between Russia and the West since the Cold War. And there may be more to come. The White House says President Barack Obama will authorize a new round of sanctions by the end of the week -- although Secretary of State John Kerry signaled that if Russia makes constructive moves toward reducing tensions in Ukraine -- some of those sanctions could be eased.

The Foreign Ministry says China welcomes the move by the US and Cuba to restore their diplomatic relations and hopes the US will lift its embargo on Cuba. China says it will continue its support of Cuba.
"China and Cuba enjoy close relations and we value our traditional friendship with Cuba. We’ll support Cuba’s choice of political system and path of development, as well as its socio-economic policies. China will not change its policy of developing friendship with Cuba no matter how international situation changes," says Qin Gang, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
