Rioters in Isla Vista, California, set fire to mattresses, tore down stop signs, and threw bottles at police. Who responded with tear gas, pepper spray, flash bang grenades, and rubber bullets.Anything they could do to subdue the thousands of partygoers at the annual street party, Deltopia. Emergency personnel were ordered to leave - due to concerns their safety was at risk. It all started when a police officer from the University of California, Santa Barbara, was hit in the head with a backpack full of liquor bottles on Saturday evening. Another was hit with a brick. From there the violence escalated. Order was finally restored by early Sunday morning.

Syrian army says regains control over Damascus suburb

Armed forces stand their ground in the Damascus suburb of Mleiha. The Syrian army claims they've regained control over several farms here, in this latest video released by the government. Key to that says an army commander --- was discovering how rebels move people and supplies through these tunnels.

Seventeen people fell ill at a Wisconsin hotel on Saturday. A strong odor of chlorine had briefly permeated the pool area, according to the Holiday Inn's general manager. The guests immediately ran into the hallway. Some of them threw up. New Berlin Assistant Fire Chief, Joseph Dallman, arrived to help.

A forest fire in Laoshan District, in Qingdao city in east China’s Shandong Province has been brought under control after burning for hours. More than 1700 firefighters were dispatched to the fire after it broke out on Saturday.
Two helicopters have also been dispatched to the scene. Officials say the fire started after several people burned paper in the forest to celebrate Tomb-Sweeping Day on Saturday. The dry weather helped spread the braze and made it difficult for firefighters to put out quickly.
So far no injuries have been reported and people living near the blaze have been moved to safer ground. Five suspects have been detained. Relevant authorities have warned residents not to burn paper in forested areas.

Gold price dip in the global market has spread to China. Even bargain hunters can only stop the price from easing further, the outlook for gold prices is bearish.
This year’s first drop of gold prices in Beijing. Major gold stores in the capital city of China have put on cheaper price tags of the precious metal. That’s drawing customers back in.
"The prices look better compared with the same period of last year. And we are seeing more pieces and heavier pieces being sold," said Wang Jun, manager of Caibai Gold Store.
Chinese bullion buyers are famous for being price sensitive. The country overtook India for the first time as top global consumers of the metal in 2013.
Analysts say Chinese demand for gold increased sharply towards the end of March because of the weak yuan. Other investors are still in a wait and see mood, as they bet on the long-term performance of gold prices, not short-term speculation.
But gold may fail them according to market forecasts. Banks in China are importing less gold as they see easing demand after the holiday season. Foreign investors are abandoning gold in favour of better-performing equities.
A slide in China’s import volumes could further dampen the global prices from recovery, a metal that has already become 3 percent cheaper in March.
