Hundreds of passengers are stranded as flames engulf Nairobi's main airport terminal. Jomo Kenyatta International in the Kenyan capital is East Africa's busiest airport and serves the tourism and agro-export industries that are key to Kenya's economy. It's unclear what caused the fire but one passenger said he heard two small explosions from the international arrivals area as if from a gas cylinder or electricity fault. Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta inspected the badly damaged terminal building with officials. His interior secretary said security was stepped up at the airport after the blaze started.

Family members hold funeral services for four teenagers killed when a bomb exploded during a night time soccer match in a poor district of Karachi, Pakistan. Officials say it happened overnight Tuesday when a group of teens were playing a match of street soccer at a crowded market place. The teens and spectators were leaving the soccer pitch when the bomb went off. The attack appeared to be aimed at a local politican who had come to hand out prizes at the match. The game was held at night during the second to last day of Ramadan when people stay up until the dawn before they begin their fast. At least 11 people were killed in the blast. No one has claimed responsibility for the incident although Karachi is home to many militant groups including the Taliban.

Japan government to help clean up Fukushima
日本政府帮助清理福岛核电站
The crippled Fukushima nuclear plant continues to cause problems more than two years after the earthquake and tsunami that caused the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. The Japanese government now says around 300 tonnes of contaminated water is leaking from the plant on a daily basis. The operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co admits the toxic water that has plagued the clean-up from the start now threatens to flood out of the crippled plant into the Pacific Ocean. On Wednesday TEPCo managers said they are dealing with the problem. But the same day Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced the government was stepping in to help deal with what he called an "urgent issue." A University of Tokyo research team that's been mapping radioactivity levels offshore from the nuclear plant says they'd found multiple hotspots in the Pacific Ocean with radioactive readings several times higher than the surrounding seabed. It's more bad news for local fishermen. This man says the latest leakage will hit his business again, just as consumer confidence was recovering. The clean-up is expected to take more than 40 years and cost 11 billion U.S. dollars.
