今天，我很荣幸出席由中国驻安巴使馆和安巴政府共同举办的2011年度获中国政府奖学金赴华留学生录取通知书颁发仪式。我想此时此刻同学们一定很兴奋，向往那遥远的中国。我此时和大家一样，为你们获得这次难得的学习机会感到由衷高兴，祝贺你们。
It is my great pleasure to attend the ceremony of granting 2011 Chinese government scholarships to Antigua and Barbuda students co-convened by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Antigua and Barbuda and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. I believe that, at this very moment, every student must be very excited and looking forward to the remote country-China. I am truly happy for you to win the precious opportunity to further your study in China. Congratulations!

中华民族是个古老的民族，有着悠久的历史和灿烂的文化。汉语在中国有着五千年的历史，是世界五分之一人口的母语，也是联合国六种工作语言之一。世界上越来越多的国家和人民认识到汉语的重要性。
China is an ancient nation with a long history and a splendid civilization. The Chinese Language, with 5000 years of history, is the primary language of one-fifth of world's population and one of the six working languages of the United Nations. The importance of the Chinese has been recognized by the world.

国家要发展，教育是根本。中安两国同属发展中国家，加快教育发展是我们两国共同面临的目标和任务。中安两国长期友好，双方在政治、经贸、文化、教育等领域互利合作成果丰硕，近年来在人力资源培育和教育领域的合作不断深化。自2007年开始，中国已连续5年向安巴提供政府奖学金，鼓励优秀的安巴青年赴华深造。目前安巴赴华留学生人数总计已达70人，所学专业涵盖各个领域。这为安巴的未来培养了一大批优秀人才，为促进安巴经济社会发展起到了积极地推动作用。
Education is the foundation for the development of a country. As developing countries, China and Antigua and Barbuda share the same goals and objectives in accelerating the development of education. With a long-term friendship, bilateral cooperation based on mutual benefits has made fruitful achievements in areas of politics, economy, culture and education, while the cooperation in human resource and education between China and Antigua and Barbuda countries to be deepened over the recent years. Since 2007, China has offered government scholarships to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in five consecutive years, encouraging outstanding Antigua and Barbuda students to study in China. So far, there are altogether 70 Antigua and Barbuda students studying in China with the Chinese government scholarships, whose majors cover nearly all fields. Many Antigua and Barbuda talents have been cultivated in the top universities of China, who will absolutely be contributive to the social and economic development of Antigua and Barbuda.

你们风华正茂、年轻有为。中国开国元勋毛泽东主席曾对年轻人说，世界是你们的，也是我们的，但归根结底是你们的。你们就像是早上8、9点钟的太阳，希望寄托在你们身上。
You are in your prime. You are young and promising. As said by Chairman Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People's Republic of China, to young people, the world is yours, as well as ours; anyway, it will be yours finally. Right now you are just like the sun at 8 or 9 o'clock in the morning, the future of the world rests on you.

我衷心希望大家珍惜这次宝贵的学习机会，刻苦学习、勤奋钻研、努力掌握各种专业知识和汉语，全方位了解中国，多走走、多看看，做中安两国的友好使者。为中安两国人民友谊架起桥梁，用你们的聪明才智完成学业。安巴人民期待着你们学成归来，中国大使馆期待着你们为中安两国人民友谊做贡献。
I sincerely hope that you can take full advantage of this precious opportunity to study hard in China, to learn Chinese and all different majors, to understand China in a comprehensive way, to travel around to see what is happening the second World's Economy, to be an envoy of friendship between the two peoples. The people of Antigua and Barbuda are expecting you to be back following the completion of your courses in China with your talents and wisdom. It is the hope of the Chinese Embassy that your will be able to make great contributions to the friendship between China and Antigua and Barbuda.
