This may sound strange, but I know a lot of people with... dentophobia.

But I'm not scared of mine. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Dentists should not be frightening. They are supposed to make us feel at ease.

I am supposed to visit my dentist when I leave here today.

I just use the phrase "be supposed to" twice.
我刚刚就是用了两次“be supposed to”这个短语。
"Be supposed to" show the idea that someone expects something to happen.
be supposed to表示某人预计某事会发生。
We use it to talk abou: scheduled events, the correct way of doing something and expected behavior.
我们会用这个短语来描述：预定的事件，做某事的正确方式和预期的行为。
The structure is be plus supposed plus to.
结构是be+supposed+to。
To talk about scheduled events, you can use it like this:
要谈论预定的事件，你可以这样使用：
This game was supposed to end at 4:00 pm.
这场比赛预计会在下午四点结束。
Express mail is supposed to arrive by 10:30.
快件预计会在10:30前到达。
To describe a correct way of doing something, you can say:
要描述做某事的正确方式，你可以说：
You're supposed to follow the instruction book.
你应该按照指示来操作。
And to describe expected behavior, you can say:
为了描述预期行为，你可以说：
The children were supposed to put away their toys.
孩子们应该收拾好了他们的玩具。
One last note: "be supposed to" is always used in either the present tense with "is" or "are", or the past tense with "was" or "were".
最后一点：在一般现在时当中，“be supposed to”通常与is或are连用，而在过去时中一般与was或were连用。

Oh, right. I'm off to the dentist!
