据说，十八世纪初有位英国舞台剧导演制作一出戏，因 为不卖座而匆匆下档，剧中唯一获得好评的是雷声的音响效 果。下一档推出别人导的戏，他也去看了，没想到那部戏用 了他用过的雷声音效，他当场跳起来大声抗议：They stole my thunder!(他们偷了我的雷声! ) °后来，steal one’s thunder就是指「抢了别人的风采」，或「抢先发表」。
