The city of Dandong in Liaoning has opened a passport-free and visa-free half-day tourist route to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to local authorities.
辽宁省丹东市相关部门近日发布消息称，该市已开通免护照、免签证的赴朝鲜半日游旅游路线。
The route is available only to Chinese citizens from the Chinese mainland. People taking this route need to get an exit-entry permit from their local police security departments with their identity cards.
该路线仅向中国大陆的公民开放。参加半日游的游客需持身份证在丹东公安部门获得出入境通行证。
After being verified by border authorities of North Korea, they can cross the border to enter the country. The whole process can be completed in one day.
在由朝方边检部门验证后，游客即可跨越边境进入朝鲜。整个流程一天即可完成。

Traditional tourist routes for Chinese citizens from the mainland to North Korea include one-day trips to Sinuiju and three to seven-day trips to Pyongyang. In 2014, Dandong launched a 2-day trip to Tongrim.

Dandong is the largest border city in China, as well as the largest trading port with North Korea. Since the launch of tourist routes to North Korea, the city has accommodated a total of 580,000 tourists, with 85 percent of them from various parts of China. Tourists from over 40 countries or regions travel to North Korea through Dandong.
丹东市是中国最大的边境城市，也是中国最大的对朝贸易口岸。自从丹东赴朝旅游开通以来，已累计接待游客逾58万人次，占全国赴朝游客的85%以上，每年有来自40多个国家和地区的游客经丹东赴朝鲜旅游。
