The Imperial Palace grounds are divided into the Outer Court and the Inner Court by the Gate of Heavenly Purity.

The main structures of the Outer Court are the Hall of Supreme Harmony Taihedian,the Hall of Central Harmony Zhonghedian and the Hall of Preserving Harmony Baohedian.
