Royal baby,princess presented to world. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have appeared outside the hospital with their daughter who was born earlier on Saturday. The princess left in her mother's arms during her first public appearance on the steps of Saint Marys Hospital.They then left for Kensington Palace.The princess who is fourth in line to the throne was safely delivered at 8:34 BST after a short labor.The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth of the eight lbs three ozs or 3.7 kilograms baby.The wait for the 2nd Royal baby is over and it's a princess. Just hours after the new arrival prince George's visiting his new baby sister at London Saint Marys Hospital. The couple emerged from the London hospital to crowds of well-wishers and the world's media.They stood on the steps for a while before heading back into the hospital to put the princess in a car seat.They will stay for a few days at Kensington Palace before decamping to their country home and we're Hall on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Moderate rain has hit parts of north China with snow and sleet in some high-altitude areas. But parts of south China including Sichuan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong provinces have received heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms.

Torrential rain storms lasted for hours, flooding streets and causing damage. Electricity was temporarily cut in some areas in the south. Over 900 people in Jiangxi were evacuated after their houses were flooded. Nearly three hundred thousand residents in Guizhou have been affected by the weather. Guangdong meteorological authority has issued a red alert for the torrential rain.

In another sign of how China is planning to tackle its pollution problem, the government outlines how it plans to improve the environment. Energy efficiency tops the list of targets China hopes to achieve.
By 2020, the country aims to reduce the ratio of carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by 40 to 45 percent from its 2005 level. An attempt will be made to boost the share of non-fossil fuels energy to about 15 percent.
Other targets include a steady improvement in water and soil quality, forestry and wetland coverage. To achieve these goals, China will set a cap on resource exploitation.
The plan also introduces for the first time the notion of a "bottom line", which means environmental quality can only get better, not worse.
Under the new guidelines, government officials' careers will be linked to environmental protection work. Environmental damage and waste of resources will play an increasing role in assessment of Communist Party officials.
The plan states that any damage to the eco-system will be recorded in officials' files and they won't be promoted or transferred to important positions.
