President Xi Jinping said on Saturday that China will contribute $40 billion to set up a Silk Road fund that will boost infrastructure and resource development while improving industrial and financial cooperation along the centuries-old Silk Road trading routes.

国家主席习近平周六宣布，中国将出资400亿美元成立丝路基金，推进基础设施和资源发展，改善历史悠久的丝绸之路沿线的产业合作和金融合作。

习近平表示，丝路基金（Silk Road fund）是开放的，可以根据地区、行业或者项目类型设立子基金（sub-funds），欢迎亚洲域内外的投资者积极参与（welcome investors from Asia and beyond to actively take part in the project,）。设立丝路基金的目的是打破亚洲互联互通的瓶颈（break the connectivity bottleneck in Asia）。
