当两个人或双方意见不一致，有矛盾的时候，我们说Those two are at odds.

At odds这个词组，用英文解释就是in disagreement。

小布什总统和加利福尼亚州州长戴维斯就加州能源管制意见不和，小布什总统当面拒绝了戴维斯希望联邦政府帮助加州强行控制飙升的 能源价格的请求。这时候我们就可以说 Bush, Davis are at odds over California energy crisis.或者Bush is at odds with Davis over California energy crisis.

归结起来，“和某人因某件事闹矛盾”，应该说成A is at odds with B over something. 另外一个由odds组成的常用短语是odds and ends，我们可以用这个短语来形容“零碎的东西，零星杂物”（small articles of various kinds, without much value）。
