《安提戈涅》Antigone

Julia W. The importance of fostering different and novel ideals is also demonstrated through Sophocles' play, Antigone. The protagonist, Antigone, sees the importance of burying her brother Polynices, because the gods will everyone a proper burial. Antigone believes it unfair that her father, Creon, decide who has the right to be honored in death, and sneaks away to bury her brother against Creon's wishes, If Antigone never stuck up for her beliefs, armed with her new way of thinking for equality, her brother would have been disgraced in both the human and underworlds. Although Antigone ends tragically, with 3 suicides, Creon learns that Antigone was brave and pure hearted: he must live with the guilt to save her brother's honor and dignity.
