I’m a native speaker of English. I have found the English language is such a noble medium. It’s impossible to write a page without experiencing positive pleasure at its richness and variety.

If an English writer cannot say what he has to say in English, and in simple English, it is probably not worth saying. But, the pity is that English is not more generally learned and studied in our country.

I am not going to attack our classroom education. The beauty of the English language will attract anyone who has the slightest taste to literature. But here what I am concerned is our present educational system.

I cannot believe that the present educational system is the best or even reasonable one. To the vast majority of our children who attend our public schools, the current classroom education is long, useless and meaningless.

我的母语是英语。我发现英语是一种非常崇高的工具。我们每写下一页，都不可能不对它的丰富多彩产生一种赞同的喜悦。

如果某个英语作家不能用英语，不能用简明的英语说出自己必须说出的话，那么这种话也许就不值得说。然而，遗憾的是英语没有得到更广泛的学习和研究。

我不是攻击我们的课堂教学。凡对文学有一丁点鉴赏的人不可能对英语的魅力无动于衷。但这里我对我国目前的教育制度忧心忡忡。

我无法相信目前的教育制度是最佳的，甚至是合理的。对公立/公助/付费寄宿学校的广大学童来说，如今的课堂教学是冗长、毫无用处、且是毫无意义的。
