It is breezy and sunny in this riverside hamlet in summer,
And swallows and sparrows have their nestles under the eaves.
Butterflies are flitting among flowers and trees,
And spiders weave cobwebs silently in the corners of the house.
The moonlight comes in through the sparse curtain at night,
One hears the sound of the brook outside on his bamboo pillow.
The hair on my temples has turned grey, snowy and frosty,
I desire only to live my life as a woodcutter or a fisherman.
