１.What rules the World?

They say that man is mighty,

He governs land and sea;

He wields a mighty scepter

O’er lesser powers that be;

But a mightier power and stronger,

Man from his throne has hurled,

And the hand that rocks the cradle

Is the hand that rules the world.

什么支配着世界?

主宰着整个世界。

（赏析）作者 威廉.罗斯.华莱士 ，美国诗人，1819年生于来克星顿市(位于美国肯塔基州)。这首诗歌朴素的言语表达了对普天下母亲的赞美和热爱之情。诗中引用了英国谚语：“推摇篮的手就是支配着世界的手。”让人们更深刻的认识到母亲影响着这个世界，影响着她的子女的一生。

２. MOTHER "母亲"的含义

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold.
"E" is for her eyes ,with the love－light shining,
"R" means right,and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER",
A word that means the world to me.

“M”代表她所给予我的无数，
“O”的意思是她在日渐老去，
“T”是她为抚育我洒下的泪，
“H”指她有像金子一般的心灵，
“E”就是她的眼睛，里面洋溢着爱的光芒，
“R”的意思是正确，因为她永远是对的。
将以上字母串在一起就是“母亲（mother）”，
这个是我的整个的世界。
