1.speculate v．思索，推测：投机，做投机生意

【例】The detective story is boring,because you can speculate about the ending when you start reading.
这个侦探故事很没意思，因为从一开始你就能推断出它的结局。
Many people speculared in stocks and gained lots of money.
很多人做股票投机赚了一大笔钱。

2.excessive adj.过多的，过分的，过度的

这是一组形近词。excessive意为“过多的，过分的”；exceeding意为“极度的，非常的”；extensive意为“广大的，广泛的”；exclusive意为“排外的；独占的，唯一的”。

【用】词组reside in的意思是“（指权利等）归属于某人；（性质等）存在于”。

6.breathe v.呼吸；吐出：低语

8.reclaim vt.要回．回收；开垦（荒地）；改造，感化（罪犯等）

【例】The country reclrumed its lost territory after the war.

The criminal has been reclaimed from vice after two years in the prison.
