"Work" has several usages. It can be a verb, noun or adjective.
work有好几种用法。它可以作动词、名词或形容词。
The examples you asked about used "work" as a verb.
你提到的例子中work用作动词。
The structure is verb + preposition + noun. Here is a simple example sentence:
结构是动词+介词+名词。下面是一个简单的例句：
Fred works at a restaurant.
Fred在一家餐馆上班。
This means Fred has a job at a restaurant. He is a restaurant employee.
也就是说Fred在一家餐馆工作。他是饭店的一名雇员。
We often use the "work at" combination when someone asks us the question "What do you do?"
当有人问What do you do?，回答时通常使用work at这个词组。
But we also might use "work + in," like in this example:
但是我们也可以用work in，比如下面这个例句：
I work in the telecommunications industry.
我在电信行业工作。
Let's continue with that imaginary discussion.

Me too! I work for Verizon.

There are lots of prepositions that "work" with the verb work.

For example, did you know a person can "work under" someone? Listen again to our telecommunication workers:

Do you know Pamela Jackson at Verizon?

"Work" also combines with other words to create phrasal verbs.

A phrasal verb combines a verb and another word to create a meaning different from what each individual word suggests.
