Before we get into that, what actually is a beadle
在了解故事起源之前，到底什么是侍卫呢？
To be honest with you, I don't think anybody really knows
老实说，我觉得大家对此都不是很了解
We predates any police force in the country
我们出现地比英国最早的警察还要早

The beadle story started on the 20th of March 1819
侍卫的故事始于1819年3月20日
London was then really different
那时伦敦还是另一番景象
people didn't really drink the water
大家都不怎么喝水
They just paid drinking, even gin or beer
他们只会买酒喝，包括杜松子酒和啤酒
obviously, there were that sort of bad behavior.
于是便出现了一些不好的行为
so the Beaders' role really was to keep order within the arcade
所以，侍卫的职责就是维持拱廊街的秩序
and in fact that tradition has carried on right away for you see to today
而这一传统一直延续到了今天

Our uniforms are made up of several different layers
我们的制服有好几层
we first of all put on our waistcoats
我们会先穿一个马甲
Then our frock coat, then our hat in the summer or the autumn,
接下来穿一件双排扣长礼服，戴帽子，夏天还是秋天都这么穿
In the winter you will still put on your waistcoats

you will then put on your cape and your top hat

the original rules of here were no whistling

some gents unlike or unladylike carry your own parcels

You mustn't ring a bicycle

and accompanying ladies by the way were also unallowed

A lot of those rules, we couldn't enforce today
很多规矩今天我们已经无法实施了
we still try to enforce them no hurrying

it's all about behavior

as long as you're respecting those around you and respecting the arcade
