1.COMMON WAYS TO COUNT 普通计数法

以上和中国的计数法差不多,但是数到"万"就不同了.英语里没有单独的词表明"万".而十数"十千"."两万"的英语是"二十千".twenty thousand.
e) 在hundred和后面的数字之间,在thousand和million和后面的"百"以下的数字之间,澳大利亚英语和英国英语都要加个and.

顺便提一下,如果有年份,汉语把年份放在前面,而英语则把年份放在后面.
b)几个重大的节日(注意所用序数的缩写形式)
1st October - China's National Day

1st January - New Year's Day

c)年份的写法和读法
1983 十位数19实际上是以hundred位单位,也就是公元一千九百年;83表明具体年份.

还有一种说法:
the sixteen hundred(the 1600s) = the seventeenth century
(17th century)
A 47-year-old man 指的是过了四十周岁的人.
还有一种说法,说某人in his forties/teens.是说这个人四十几岁/十几岁

3.NUMBERS FOR IDENTIFICATION 用数字标明事物
a)说几路公共汽车或房间号码,在100以上的通常是把数字分开说.
a 412 bus - a four one two bus
a 389 bus - a three eight nine bus
(或 a three eighty-nine bus)
Room 905 - Room nine o five
Room 388 - Room three eight eight
(OR Room three eighty-eight)
房间号码在100以下的:
Room 20 - Room twenty
可见说几路公共汽车和房间同说一般数字不同.此外,可以说 a 412 bus,也可以说 the 412 bus(用a或the视上下文而定).但只能说Room412.
b)电话号码的读法如下:
987543 - Nine eight seven five four three
7138174 - Seven one three eight one seven four
如果其中有的数字重叠,可以这样说:
994786 - Double nine four seven eight six
307744 - Three o double seven double four
c)在写地址的时候,汉语是先写区的名称,然后是街道的名称,最后是门牌号码.英语恰好相反,顺序是:门牌号码,街道名称,区的名称.例如:
73 Hay Street,Brighton.
d)数字0(零)的各种读法:
Nought
Zero
O
字母O常用于公共汽车,房间号码,小数等等.
PRONUNCIATION CORNER
数字以-ty结尾的,重音在第一个音节,例如:th'irty,f'orty.以-teen结尾的,用于强调位置时,重音在第二个音节,例如:Amanda's thirt'teen;用于名词前面时,重音在第一个音节,例如It's th'irteen dollars.你听的时候要很注意,才能听出thirteen等词和thirty等次的区别.
