1.decide v．决定；锯决，判决；使下决心，使决定

【记】联想记忆：de(表加强)+cid（杀）+e一要杀要留必须果断一决定

【例】He decidedto speak to his boss's mother about his problems at work,rather than to go directly to his boss.

他决定去跟老板的母亲讨论工作中遇到的问题，而不是直接去找老板。（1997听力）

【用】decide是一个常用动词，其句式结构一般是sb. decide to do sth．。

【派】decidedly（adv.下定决心地；毅然决然地）；decision（n.决定，抉择；判决；果断；决心）；decisive（adj.坚决的，果断的；有决定作用的;明确的）

2.blush n.脸红 v.感到羞愧

【例】The blush of shame which it excited overpowered the sensation of fear which had produced his former paleness.

这件事引起的羞愧使他满脸通红，掩盖了先前由于恐惧而呈现的苍白脸色。

3.peddle v.叫卖，到处贩卖

【记】词根记忆：ped(脚)+dle一行走在大街上叫卖一叫卖

5.pious adj.虔诚的，笃信的；假虔诚的，虚伪的

6.comparative adj.比较的，相当的 n．比较级

【辨】comparable, comparative

这两个词都是compare的派生词，但意思不同．comparable指“类似的，可相比的”，而comparauve是“比较的，相当的”意思。

7.cheat n.以……欺诈，骗取；骗子 v．欺诈，骗取

【例】They will not care how to get passed which will be fulfIled by cheating.

This company's financiaJ activity turned out to be a cheat.

【用】cheat通常指通过不被人发现的手段诈取钱财或占小便宜，通常都有利益纠葛．cheat的常见搭配有：①cheat on（对…不忠）；②cheat sb. into（哄骗某人…）；③cheat sth. of sb.（骗人的东萌）；④cheat sth. out of sb.（骗人的东西）．
