CCTV9:"Bric" leaders seek better coordination

Leaders of what have been dubbed the "Bric" countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, have agreed to enhance coordination. Meeting after the outreach session of G8 Summit on Wednesday, the rising powers said they'll strive to play a positive role in international affairs.

President Hu Jintao met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the G8 summit.

President Hu says "Bric" countries share similar views on many international and regional issues. He says enhanced dialogue and cooperation between the four nations will help safeguard world peace and promote common development.

Hu called for the four countries to strengthen communication and coordination on important issues of common concern, to enable them to play a constructive role in international affairs.

Hu's remarks were welcomed by the three other leaders. They agreed the four nations should boost high-level contacts and consultations to play a more positive role in global affairs.

President Hu was invited to attend the Outreach Session of the G8 summit by Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. The session focused on the world economy, climate change and energy security.
