Taking a panoramic view of human history, we can readily find that various sports play a crucial role in the life of each and every individual, which can justify the prevailing proverb that life lies in motion. Given the significance of sports, the general public, especially the elder, are strong believers of the claim that we can learn a lot by engaging in sports activities. Towards such a long-running tug-of-war, I am inclined to believe that playing sports can really teach us many valuable life lessons, especially a sense of cooperation as well as persistence and patience.

In the first instance, consider the team spirit. As is common sense, the team sports, an important part of the whole sports field, require team members to work with each other in order to win the competition. To be specific, they need to stay together and train together, which will make the sense of cooperation take roots in the mind of each member. The 2004 success of Pistons, a famous NBA basketball team, is a good case in point. Despite the fact that none of the players in that team is the best player in this league, they managed to win the championship. It is nothing but the strong team spirit that contribute to the final success. Stories alike occur almost every second in the whole world.

In addition, the same is true of acquiring persistence and patience by doing sports. More scrutiny makes it conspicuous that the success of athlete in any kinds of sports relies on the strong perseverance and endurance, which is the key to the success in future study and work. Just as Jordon, the most popular NBA star across the globe, once remarked that I failed again, again and again, and that’s why I succeed, which clearly indicates the important role of persistence played in one’s success. Andy, one of my best friend, used to be a naughty and impatient guy. Realizing the problem of Andy, his parents required him to run in a long distance. As we know, long-distance running necessitates the endurance and perseverance which Andy lacked in. In the process of running, he gradually slowed down and become patient, which definitely goes a long way to his future life a lot.

Judging from what has been discussed above, I can safely draw the conclusion that playing sports can impart us some valuable lessons about life, specifically teamwork as well as persistence and endurance.
