在托福口语备考中考生往往陷入题海战术，背诵大量的口语段落和句型，但由于选取的段落具有极大的局限性，所以往往陷入以题练题的痛苦深渊，使得考试成绩难以得到突破。比如说，关于描述人物的题目就有数不胜数。例如：What characteristics do you think make someone a good parent? Choose a quality you think makes someone a valuable member of a team. Describe a person that you look up to as a role model. Describe a person who positively influenced your life. Describe the famous person you admire most. Describe your favorite performer or musician. In your opinion, what are some important characteristics of a good teacher? Some students prefer to be taught by experienced teachers who have more teaching experience. Other students prefer to be taught by new teachers who have just finished their training. 也就是说关人物的题目就数不胜数，如果我们把每一个关于人物的题目都作以细节的答案，那么我们至少要准备几十个段落。我们按照45秒钟来计时，那么我们每个段落要书写60-80个文。
　　不难算出我们要至少背诵上千字的文字才能完成关于人的话题。试想一下，在考试极度紧张的情况下，我们又怎么能快速想起并流畅的表达出我们书写的段落呢?况且我们要完成所有题目的背诵，我们至少要准备几万字的口语背诵段落。而更悲剧的是，这几万字的背诵段落只能应对简单的task 1和2的内容。那样我们的口语学习真正的陷入了苦海无涯的状态。
　　想要背诵百搭的段落首先要对题目作以高度的概括和总结。比如说，关于人物的题目我们只背诵两个段落，例如责任感和积极乐观。那么考题考到好的老师应该具备什么素质，我们就可以答有责任感和积极乐观。好的家长应该具备什么素质，我们同样可以答有责任感和积极乐观。我的偶像、学习的榜样、我最喜欢的老师、童年特殊的伙伴、好的领导等等都可以以此类推回答同样的内容。所以广大的考生切忌以题练题的错误学习方法。多多进行题目的总结，善于归纳，习得百搭句型和段落才能最终实现提高考试成绩的目标。
