  Task 1

Talk about two schools that you attended and their differences. Give specific examples and details in your response.

I would like to point out some differences between my high school and university. First of all, in high school, I proceeded from one class directly to another for about eight hours a day. In college, I have longer hours between classes to myself for individual studies and research. I have more freedom to allocate my time now. Second, the facilities in my high school were pretty basic, we didn’t have up-to-date scientific equipment to toy with, and the book collection in the library was very limited. But in college, I get to operate sophisticated modeling machines, and have super computers at my disposal for more complicated tasks.

  Task 2

Some people think that one needs to be talented to be an artist, others believe trainings and hard work is more crucial for someone to be an artist. Which do you think is more important? Give details and examples in your response.

I think people are not born artist. We all love to draw or paint when we were kids, as art becomes an interest or hobby, the skills will develop, and thus one will gain the experience until he or she realizes that art is something that he or she can do in life, and sees it as a career. Second, talent only gets one so far. One does have to learn the methods and theories of art, and perfect their skills. I went to art school and must say I learned a lot. I was able to better create what I saw in my mind and translate those ideas to a canvas by being schooled.

  Task 3

1)give an alternative to eating。理由2)having fun to prepare and eat with friends

  Reading

Announcement: The university is going to increase kitchens in student dorms.

Reason 1: It can provide an alternative for students to eat.

Reason 2: It is fun for students to prepare and eat food with their friends.

  Listening

The man agrees with the plan.

Reason 1: The food offered at their cafeteria is not that good, so that it is great to have other choices to eat.

Reason 2: In addition to having fun by cooking for themselves, students can also learn from each other while preparing food.

  Task 4

  Term:internal attribute

Definition:Attribute causes concerning why things happen to internal factors other than external factors.

  Lecture:

The professor gives an example of his own. When he was a teenager, he works at a firm where he had to collate documents. He usually failed to finish his job in time because of several difficulties. But he didn’t complain his boss nor did he complain the large amount of the work. In turn, he always came up with ways to advance his ability. As a result, the professor has improved his ability to complete his task in time and he turned out to be very good at it.

  Task 5

Problem: The boy has to pick his friend up at the airport, but he also wants to attend a speech made by an author.

Solution 1: Tell his friend that he will be late.

Pro:His old friend will understand his being late, and his friend can also go around at the airport. He can read and eat whenever he wants.

Con:It is not polite to be late, especially when his friend has to travel so far to be here.

Solution 2: Cancel the plan to attend the speech.

Con:There won’t be a second chance for him to attend this author’s speech.

  Task 6

In the biology class, the professor tells us that strong adaptability is the reason why trees can live long. S/he then explains it as the following two ways.

  Main Idea:

Way 1: Avoid damage by insects by releasing chemical substance.

Example 1: Red wood has tannic/gallotannic acid in its leaves and branches, which the insects cannot suffer to eat and live with. So they will not eat red wood.

Way 2: Survive in storms through developed root system.

Example 2: Red wood has a developed root system that can stretch every direction and group with other trees’ roots. So if there is any storm, it can successfully survive by binding with each other.
