《新约》的四卷，记叙耶稣基督的生平和受难。即〈马太福音〉、〈马可福音〉、〈路加福音〉和〈约翰福音〉四卷，排在《新约》之首，约占全书一半篇幅。前三卷常又称为〈同观福音〉（Synoptic Gospels），因为叙事内容大同小异。
