Kenya Election: Kenyatta Clinches Narrow Win

The deputy PM manages to avoid a run-off after picking up 50.07% of the votes but his main rival vows to challenge the result.

肯尼亚独立选举委员会9日在内罗毕宣布，朱比利联盟总统候选人、现任副总理乌胡鲁·肯雅塔当选肯尼亚下一任总统。而败选的奥廷加则表示，此次选举存在大范围违规，他将诉诸法律。

肯尼亚独立选举委员会主席艾哈迈德·埃塞克·哈桑当天授予乌胡鲁·肯雅塔获胜证书，并正式宣布肯雅塔以总选票的50.07%微弱优势赢得总统大选，当选第四任肯尼亚总统。肯雅塔的主要竞选对手改革与民主联盟总统候选人、现任总理拉伊拉·奥廷加获得总选票的43.28%，位列第二。据统计，此次总统选举投票总人数约1120万，投票率超过八成，创历史新高。

东非最大经济体肯尼亚3月4日举行了5年一次的全国大选，选举总统、议员和地方行政官员，这是肯尼亚2010年颁布新宪法以来第一次大选，共有8名候选人参选。由于电子计票系统故障，计票改用传统人工计票，使得原本5日公布的结果不得不推迟到9日。

乌胡鲁·肯雅塔生于1961年10月28日，是肯尼亚开国总统乔莫·肯雅塔之子。从2001年起，他先后担任过肯尼亚地方政府部长、副总理兼财政部长等职。

My fellow Kenyans, today we celebrate triumph of democracy, the triumph of peace, the triumph of nationhood, despite the misgivings of many in the world, we have demonstrated a level of political maturity that surpassed expectations. We need to deal with weaknesses in our electoral system, and we want to demand that they are rectified because these elections and oozes bear serious weaknesses within our electoral system, weaknesses which we thought we have dented in the past, unfortunately they are very much present within the present system. I have a duty and responsibility to protect democracy in this country, the struggle for democracy in this country is very long. And we are not bound to surrender it to those forces of retrogression and darkness, those who have continued all the time to try to take us to the other, the opposite direction. These struggles have been between the two forces, and represent the force of the populist forces who want to democrat this country, to make it well united, a strong Kenya.
