Alma: Clothes have rich symbolic functions for a traditional African society. One resulting phenomenon is that Africans are very specific about the fabric of cloth.

Alma: The value of the different cloth types is determined concerning how it's made and dyed.

Alma: The finest cloth is woven with pattern. Tie dyes follow. The third type is batiks while industrial prints come the last.

Daniel: Is the first category valued because it's more time-consuming?
