自菲律宾方面挑起黄岩岛事端至今，已有整整30天。期间，菲方不断扩大事态，不断发表错误言论，误导公众，严重损害双边关系，而对中方提出的外交解决的正确主张置若罔闻。据报道，菲律宾今日将举行大规模反华游行。

Beijing on Wednesday warned Manila not to "further harm bilateral relations" in response to Manila's repeated provocations, which have worsened the month-long Huangyan Island impasse.

菲方近一个月来不断在黄岩岛制造事端挑衅，使中菲黄岩岛对峙僵局更趋紧张，对此中方于周三警告称希望菲方“不要进一步损伤两国关系”。

上面报道中，Huangyan Island impasse就是“黄岩岛僵局”的英文表达，也可称作Huangyan Island standoff。Impasse的英文解释为“a situation that is so difficult that no progress can be made”，即“僵局”，英文中表达同样意思的词语还有：deadlock，stalemate，dead end等。例如：The negotiation has reached a dead end.（谈判陷入了僵局。）

“陷入僵局”可以说come to/reach an impasse，双方僵持的状态也可叫confrontation（对峙）。目前，菲律宾外交部resume diplomatic contact with the Chinese embassy in Manila（恢复了与中国驻菲使馆的外交接触），希望此次diplomatic negotiation（外交协商）有助于break the impasse（打破僵局）。
