Natalie: Well, we could go for some brunch after the programme. 啊，做完节目我就可以吃早午餐了。

Feifei: Brunch? 早午餐？

Natalie: Yes, B.R.U.N.C.H. brunch. 是的，早、午、餐。

Feifei: What is brunch? Brunch is usually a hot meal, e.g. eggs on toast. 什么是早午餐？就是类似鸡蛋和吐司的热餐吧。

Natalie: Well brunch is a portmanteau word which is when two words and their meanings are combined together to form a new word.

Feifei: Brunch 是一个合成词，也就是由两个单词组成一个新的单词。

Natalie: So listen to the word brunch. Which two words do you think have been joined together to make it? 在听听看这个单词是由哪两个单词组成的？

Feifei: Let me think… brunch… 我想想……

Natalie: I think you definitely need to get some brunch! Your stomach is calling out for some food! OK, brunch is made from the words breakfast and lunch. 我想你真该去吃早晚餐啦！好吧，我告诉你，这个单词是由单词早餐和晚餐组成的。

Feifei: Brunch 是由单词早餐 breakfast 和午餐 lunch 组成的。So brunch is a meal between breakfast and lunch? 所以说吃早午餐的时间是在早餐和晚餐之间咯？

Natalie: Yes, it's usually in place of breakfast and lunch, as it's too late for breakfast and too early for lunch, so we call it brunch. 是的，它可以代替早餐和晚餐，因为它对于早餐来说有些迟了，对于午餐来说又有点早了。

Feifei: So this meal usually involves a lot of food? 所以这一餐包括很多事物咯？

Natalie: Yes as some people replace breakfast and lunch with this meal it tends to be a big meal! But don't worry people in Britain tend to only have brunch now and again. It can be very popular to have brunch on a Sunday. 是啊，因为有些人不吃早餐和中餐，这一餐就可以代替了，所以这个餐很丰盛的说。不过不用担心，在英国有些人有时就只吃早午餐。人们在星期天都很喜欢早午餐。

Natalie: I think we'd better go get you some brunch Feifei!! 我想我们现在就是早午餐时间了，去吃点东西吧，菲菲！！
